Some choose to work on Sundays, others choose to rest. When we were out driving around El Monteon this morning we came upon a bunch of workers at one of the several brick yards that are in the area.
One guy was hard at work mixing mud and sawdust together. This mixture, plus a little straw and sand, is used to make red masonry bricks. When the shaping
process takes place they are grey, but the extremely high temperatures during firing will turn them red. Ceiling tiles are also manufactured here.
As you can see, the bricks are laid out to dry before firing. When ready to be fired, they are stacked and then a bunch of wood is placed within the pile of bricks.
During the firing process, the bricks must reach a temperature between 900 and 1000 degrees centigrade which will take approximately 24 hours. 
The bricks are then ready to be sold for a peso and a half each.
Right around the corner from the brickyard we noticed these animals who chose to rest on this sunny Sunday morning.
