This morning we set out for a drive to El Monteon, a small town about 10 minutes from here. It is Sunday so people were gathering for church.I couldn’t resist getting a picture of the cute little boy in his charro outfit. A charro is someone skilled in horsemanship, and I’m sure this little fellow’s papa is a charro who is already teaching his son at this early age. His mom and grandma were also nicely dressed for the service. There’s never enough sitting room in the local churches so there’s always a crowd listening from outside.
Later this morning, as we were leaving El Monteon, we spotted another well dressed young family waiting at the corner. The father called to us and asked if weweregoing to La PeƱita. We said sure and everyone hopped into the van. They’d been waiting for quite awhile for a taxi and didn’t want be late for church. Off we went and found their little church in the early stages of construction. Everyone was happy to arrive on time for the service.
