The Playas at El Monteon and Punta Raza

After you’ve passed through the town of El Monteon, you come to a fork in the road. If you go right, you reach Punta Raza and if you go left you reach El Monteon beach.

First we took the road to the right, but when we reached the beach at Punta Raza, the area was fenced and gated. It looked like construction was to begin soon. Another beautiful PUBLIC beach is no more.

We headed back and took the road to the left and before long we were at Playa El Monteon. There were many old abandoned palapas and a new one being built. With access to Punta Raza being restricted, everyone will now flock to this beach. I’m sure these guys were trying their best to have a restaurant open for business before anyone else. It will not only serve the locals and tourists, but also the hundreds of workers who will be employed at Punta Raza.

It is a beautiful setting for a restaurant, but much of the sand has been washed away since we were last here. Many colourful rocks have been exposed.
