Buenas Tardes - Good Afternoon

I’m back for just a quick “Hello”.

I’ve been really busy trying to cram as much Spanish as possible into my feeble little brain, but I still manage to find a little time each day to stop and smell the flowers and enjoy some of the many simple pleasures this country has to offer.

Classes, homework and studying are taking up a lot of my time, but I can now actually put some simple sentences together, such as:

“Yo no estoy haciendo mi blog ahora porque estoy tratando de aprender español y aprendiego español es muy importante para mí.”

(I am not doing my blog right now because I am tring to learn Spanish and learning Spanish is very Important to me.)

Bruce and I are trying to go for a walk down the beach every afternoon for a break and a change of scenery.

Our weather has been fabulous lately.  The days are clear and bright and the evenings are really cool.  We actually need a heavy quilt or several blankets over us to stay warm.  I love the cooler nights because they are better for sleeping.

I really miss writing my blogs because they not only allowed my creative juices to flow, they also made me feel more connected to family and friends back home.

So I am going to try and do a blog whenever I can find some spare time.

Take a look occasionally to see if there's anything new with us.

For now - Adios, amigos

Yes, I'm Still Here

If anyone is wondering why I haven’t been blogging the past few days, it’s because I’m up to my ears in Spanish lessons.

My Spanish classes started up again the first Monday after the holidays so I’ve been really busy with homework.

I am now learning how to speak in past and future tenses plus I’m trying to stay on top of everything I learned before the holidays started.

I haven’t stopped blogging forever, but for this week at least, I’ll probably be concentrating on my studies.

See you soon, JJ

These are some of the books I get to look at these days.

A Bit of Fluff for 2011

A friend sent these New Year’s wishes to me the other day, and I thought they were cute so I’m passing them along.

May you always make the right moves.

May your cup always runneth over with love.

May you always find shelter from any storm.

May you always remain good looking and looking good.

May you always find the perfect diet for your body and soul.

May you always find the perfect balance in the company you keep.

May you always have as much fun as you can before somebody makes you stop.

May the worst thing that happens to you come in slobbery pink and furry tan.

May you always make time for siestas.

May all the new folks you meet be interesting and kind.

May your accessories always harmonize with your natural beauty.

Should your mouth ever be bigger than your stomach, may you have a chewing good time.

May you always know when to walk away and when to run.

May your friends always bring you joy.

Remembering that living well is the best revenge against mortality.

May 2011 be your best year yet.

Another New Year

Once again thousands and thousands of Mexicans have packed the beach in Guayabitos.

This is what the beach has looked like for the past ten days or so.

There’s no parking anywhere, the supplies in the stores have been depleted and everybody in town is making mucho dinero.

There were fiestas happening everywhere last night and lots and lots of fireworks brightened the skies.

If the Mexicans are hung over today, they sure aren’t showing it.  They are all out on the beach again today and are having loads of fun.

Just one more day of this and then hopefully our little town will be back to normal.  In the meantime, we are laying low and watching the colourful scene from a distance.

Feliz Año Nuevo to family and friends from JJ & Bruce.  We hope you are all enjoying your day.
