For our friends in Guayabitos who aren’t familiar with our home in Canada, I’d like to share a few pictures with you. 
We are fortunate to live on the beach in a beautiuful little town called Qualicum Beach which is on Vancouver Island, an hour and a half ferry trip from Vancouver, British Columbia.
One side of our house looks out to an estuary with Mount Arrowsmith in the distance and the other side faces the ocean. We are on a tid
al beach so at certain times of 
the day the water is at 
our doorstop and at other times you can walk for miles along the shore. Clams and oysters are yours for the picking. 
Much like the estuary in Guayabitos, the estuary in Qualicum Beach is home to a multitude of different species of birds. Instead of pelicans soaring overhead, we
have bald eagles that nest in the trees along the river estuary and fish for salmon. Great blue herons stand motionless in the tidal pools during the day and flocks of Canadian and Brant geese paddle by at sunset.I will be sad to leave Guayabitos next month, but look forward to spring and summer in Qualicum Beach.
